Wow, Friday Already?

friday.jpgWow, I can’t believe it is Friday already. It has been a crazy busy week around here with work stuff and Little League season in full swing. But I wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the better reading I have found from around the blogosphere this week. So grab a cup of Joe and check out some of these great blogs. Drum roll please….

  • Kris at Living ¢entsibly has a post called Vick’s VapoRub: It Really Works!, where she documents how she, in desperate need of some nighttime relief from her cough, put Vicks VapoRub on her feet, put on some socks, and went to bed. Guess what? It worked. Awesome. I am so going to try this!
  • Donna at Salty Surf documents her Weekly Savings Roundup on her cool blog. It amazes me how many bloggers, like Donna, use coupons and deals at stores like CVS, Walgreen’s, and Target to save some serious money! Very cool.
  • Danelle at Homemaker Barbi (great name by the way!) has a post that I really thought was well done. It is called Teach Ourselves so We Can Teach Our Kids, in which she talks about the importance of parents being able to teach our kids certain things. And often that requires us, as parents, to step outside of our comfort zones and learn stuff that we can pass along to our kids. Great post, go check it out!
  • Jeannie at What’s A Girl To Do also caught my attention with her post Why Do I Go? where she tries to figure out why she goes to Wal-Mart. Like me, she hates going, and complains the whole time she is there. So she is going to try and stay out for awhile and see what happens to her and her budget. I look forward to seeing the results!
  • This may be starting to sound like ‘Let’s Bash Wal-Mart Friday’ but I also liked Jennifer’s post at All Things Frugal detailing her recent Wal-Mart experience. She says, “When the cashiers are trained at Wal-Mart, are they trained to intentionally NOT be nice to the customer?” I have had similar experiences at the Big W. Can’t we just be cordial people, c’mon!!
  • Michelle at Frugal Parenting did a post titled Queen Declutter that I thought hit the nail on the head. Sometimes the frugal minded get caught up in keeping everything thinking they will use it or repair it down the road. But as Michelle so eloquently states, “However, most of the time these items never really get used. They take up space, collect dust and mentally drain us. Sometimes you just have to let it go!” Amen!
  • Another new blog I found and am enjoying is by Nissa over at Nissa’s Niceties. Maybe the reason I like her is because of this post, Thirteen Reasons I Don’t Shop at Wal-Mart. Yes, it is now officially ‘Let’s Bash Wal-Mart Friday’! But Nissa brings up some great points along with some points that made me laugh! Go check it out.
  • As I have mentioned before I am always amazed at the savings and coupons that CVS has. My new blogging buddy Marianne over at The New Frugal Mom has a post that details how to save a ton of money at CVS drugstore. Go check it out, the post is titled CVS: How To Save. The post really breaks down how it works. Well done Marianne!
  • Also, the gals over at Coupon Alley featured my website and blog yesterday! Very cool, thanks Amber and Gail, much appreciated. When you get a minute, click on over to their blog and check out all the coupon goodness!!

    I’ll join in the walmart bashing, lol. I haven’t spent more money since I quit going either, but I end up buying less shoddy junk on impulse too so I win all around.

    Jennifer, that is a great point on the impulse buying at Walmart. I feel the same way. Those endcaps with the great deals are not there by accident! They sucker you in with those and then they hope you buy lots of other stuff at full price….

    I hope the Vicks works for you as well as it did for me. That was, literally, the only way I could get any sleep for three or four nights in a row.

    Great blog you’ve got here! I love the look!

    Oh, I have to agree about Wally World. I told my kids last week that we probably wouldn’t be visiting there unless we just had to anymore. Their customer service skills, aside from a few friendly cashiers, are awful!
