Zappos.com Will One Day Rule The World!

March 9, 2009 · Filed Under · 4 Comments

I was channel surfing last night, much to my wife’s annoyance, and felt like Zappos Shoes was taking over the world.  First, they were featured on Celebrity Apprentice as the client that all the B-grade stars had to impress with a comic strip. At least I think that was the plot. I only watched for a few minutes. But their logo was all over the show. Then, I went to check out my Alma Mater, Saint Mary’s College, who was playing in the WCC basketball tournament in Las Vegas. Guess who was sponsoring the tourney? Yep, Zappos.com had their logo all over the court.

Very impressive, they must be doing well. Even in hard economic times. I personally have never ordered anything from them. I have a friend who ordered some shoes from them and was quite impressed with their customer service. Plus, they offer free shipping and free returns which is very convenient as shoes probably won’t fit comfortably 50% of the time. Have you had any experience buying from Zappos? Good or bad, let’s hear it! I look forward to knowing more about this company. Thanks!

Kyle, I’ve bought many pairs of shoes from Zappos, always had good transactions, never had a bad one. Returns are smooth and easy. Customer service is superb.

I had the privilege of hearing Tony from Zappos speak at SXSW. I’ve never bought shoes from Zappos, but hearing their philosophy on customer service (it’s their goal to be #1 in that area) made me WANT to buy from Zappos.

I think Zappos will succeed in tough economic times, because of their great customer service. With horrible CS stories abounding on the internet, I think it’s the retailers with the best customer service that are going to thrive.

Although I rarely buy shoes online, when I do it’s from Zappos and Zappos only…I am spoiled with them, so why take the chance of venturing elsewhere? On a side note, I sent Tony a direct message on Twitter in response to something he posted…and guess what? He responded personally. They really do make the customer feel like a rock star!

Thanks ladies for the comments. It is interesting that all 3 of your comments have one major theme in common: GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

That seems to be the best way to differentiate yourself from the competition. Especially in a tough economic market. Many struggling stores should take note of what Zappos is doing. Make customer satisfaction your #1 goal.
