Over the past few years, Walmart has announced that they’ve closed well over 160 locations in 27 states throughout the U.S., affecting over 10,000 employees.

The states hit the hardest in recent years include Texas (29), North Carolina (17), and Arkansas (11). It will be interesting to see what happens in the communities where a Walmart will be closing. Will new local businesses open up and fill the void? I certainly hope so. My guess is that the Target’s and Amazon’s of the world will simply step in and swallow up the competition, but time will tell.

Below is a running list, state by state, of all the Walmart locations that have already closed in the past 3 years or will be closing soon in 2024.

All The Walmart Stores Closing (Or Already Closed) in Recent Years

So you might be asking why are these stores closing?

There are several reasons that some Walmart store location have been closing in recent years.

They include the following:

  • Underperforming location
  • Hit by theft and organized crime
  • Unable to secure a lease with the property owner

Here’s my running list of store closures:

  • 2121 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA (closing on February 9, 2024) – According to a Walmart spokesman, they were unable to renew a lease with the property owner.
  • 605 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon, CA (closing on February 9, 2024) – El Cajon is a town northeast of San Diego and this location was also unable to renew their lease.

I’m Lost reading this. North Carolina has 8 towns listed that have never had a Wal-Mart. Broadway NC has less then 1000 people and is a 10 minute drive to Walmart in sanford. Much can be said about many of the towns listed. Strange..

Joy

Because these are reeducation camps

Meh

I don’t like Walmart, but how are Walmart Express stores reeducation camps?

Honest question, I’m intrigued by your statement.

Judy

Brian

How many have been taken over by military ?

Kimberly Allsop

Yes, I was looking at the locations…for primary re-education camps. People don’t have a clue what is about to come. But we do have 26 states that will NOT go on the CBDC, so all others are at the beconing call of the Gov’t leadership. Guess they are cutting billiions today in the Medicaid advantage….more to suffer and more on the streets.

Walmart has put there own ass out of business with there prices, nothing on the shelfs, nothing on shelfs, can’t sell nothing. Lost of money.

Your employees, don’t care. To much time texting on cell phones. Standing around doing nothing. Self checkout, that’s we’re you did wrong.

Get this, wow, greater watching people leaving at the door, watching and checking people, sitting on a electric scooter playing with a cell phone.

She was sitting there when I got there, still playing with the cell phone when I left. Hole hour. still sitting there, people coming and going.

Your stealing, the employee’s as well as others. The more you sell, more money 💰 your going to make. Walmart it’s bad when Lowe’s, home Depot is cheaper than you. That’s bad. You all use to stock shelves doing the day. Don’t see that anymore.

Why. never mine, attitude, shit that went out the door a long time ago. Yeah. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if you close all the stores let little stores come back the way it used to be.

Big giant (Walmart) blows in towns, ran everybody out, take over, now, look at your fucking ass now. Shame. My my.

Alex

I wonder what % is the result of people walking out with goods and no one is allowed to stop them. We see this in NY all the time.

John

Given a lot of this was announced years ago and thefts are insured, low%
