Do you dislike shopping at Walmart, but love their low prices? If you fall into this large (and growing) group of consumers this article is for you. What if I told you that you could stay out of Walmart altogether and still take advantage of their low prices? Well, by getting a price-match on Walmart prices, you can do exactly that. Here are all the popular retailers that will happily price match Walmart’s low prices.

The 19 Stores That Will Price Match Walmart's Low Prices

3 Keys to Your Success:

Download the Walmart App

Download this app (iOS, Android) and use it to quickly see what Walmart is selling the item for, and if applicable, use that pricing information to get your price-match at one of the retailers listed below.

The app is very easy to use and lets you scan the item’s barcode and instantly shows the Walmart price.

While some retailers will want to see a printed Walmart ad showing the lower price, the majority will accept the price on the Walmart app, especially if you’re polite.

Save Time In-Store When Asking for a Price-Match

Many “on the floor” employees are either not equipped to give you a price match, or simply aren’t familiar with their own store’s policy.

This is why I always recommend heading straight to the customer service/relations desk, typically located in the front of the store.

These are the employees that can help you with your price match quickly and efficiently.

Save Those Receipts (Especially on Large Purchases)

Always hold on to your receipt as many of the retailers below will give you a Walmart price-match days, or even weeks, after your original purchase.

While it’s too time consuming to constantly check for a Walmart price drop on smaller purchases, it definitely makes sense on larger purchases like electronics, laptops, sporting goods, and home appliances.

Without your receipt in-hand, you’re going to be out-of-luck when trying to go back to the store to get your price adjustment.

All the Stores that Will Price Match Walmart:

Best Buy

The Best Buy Price Match Guarantee absolutely includes matching the price at your local Walmart. Here is what you need to know.

  • The Walmart has to be within a 25-mile radius of your local Best Buy location in order to get a price-match.
  • The best way to show proof of the lower price is to bring in Walmart’s current ad, or show them the price on Walmart.com via your phone.
  • They reserve the right to call the local Walmart and verify the price independently.
  • Product must be identical, and in-stock, in order to get the lower Walmart price.
  • You cannot use a Best Buy coupon on top of a price match.

Bed Bath & Beyond

Bed Bath & Beyond will also give you the lower Walmart price on identical items.

  • The item must be first quality, in-stock, and must have an identical model number.
  • Just show the lower Walmart price to a sales associate on your smartphone or bring in the current Walmart ad.
  • Bonus Tip: You can also stack a manufacturer coupon on top of a Walmart price match for additional savings.

Cabela’s

Cabela’s recently instituted a solid price match policy and it absolutely includes Walmart.

  • Show evidence of the lower price to a Cabela’s employee and they’ll verify that it’s in-stock at Walmart and identical.
  • Item has to be the same brand, model, color, size, and quantity.
  • Bonus: If you’re a Cabela’s Club Member they’ll even deduct another 5% off the lower Walmart price.

Dick’s Sporting Goods

I was happy to see that Dick’s now has a price match policy in place and it includes Walmart. You no longer have to shop at Walmart for the lowest prices on sporting goods. Here is the skinny at Dick’s.

  • The item must be identical, this includes the brand and model number.
  • Just bring in the Walmart ad, or evidence on your smartphone, at the time of purchase and show it to a store associate.
  • Exclusions: Rebates, coupons, bonus offers, gift card offers, clearance, including closeouts and used items, limited-quantity or out of stock items, prices advertised only as a percent off or dollar off, services or another retailer’s pricing error.
  • Unlike their coupon offerings, I was happy to see that they don’t have a long list of brands which are excluded from a price match.

HHGregg

When buying electronics and appliances, HHGregg will price match Walmart pricing. Here is how to make it happen.

  • Price match can only be given at the time of the original purchase.
  • Item must be identical and in-stock at booth HHGregg and your local Walmart.
  • Simply show evidence to a store associate and they’ll hook you up.
  • They also match the price at Walmart.com making it easy to show a store associate the lower price on your smartphone.

Home Depot

Here is how to get a Walmart price match at the Home Depot.

  • Home Depot will price-match Walmart, but they won’t beat their price by 10% anymore.
  • Show evidence of the lower Walmart price at the customer service desk at the front of the warehouse.
  • Item must be in-stock, and only works on the regular retail price at Walmart.
  • Exclusions to be aware of:  Special orders, bid pricing, volume discounts, open-box merchandise, labor and installation, sales tax, rebate and free offers, typographical errors and online purchases.

JCPenney

Look to price match kitchen and home items at your local JCPenney as they have many of the same items as Walmart.

  • JCPenney will match Walmart pricing on identical items. This is defined as the same brand, style, color, quantity, size, model number, weight, etc.
  • Bring in a print-out or advertisement showing the lower Walmart price. Smartphone versions may also be used but will be independently verified before they give you the lower price.
  • Exclusions: Sephora, Salon, Optical, Portrait or Custom Decorating.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s will gladly match Walmart pricing on specific items. Here are the details.

  • Kohl’s will only match the in-store pricing at Walmart. They will not match Walmart.com.
  • Item must be identical to the product sold at Kohl’s.
  • Unfortunately, there is a long list of exclusions. Big ones include Nike, Levi’s, Acer, Netgear, Canon, Samsung, and Fitbit.
  • Always check out our Kohl’s coupons as well and try to stack one on top of your purchase.

Lowe’s Home Improvement

The Lowe’s price-match policy is quite similar to The Home Depot’s. Here are the details.

  • Just bring in evidence of the lower Walmart price via their ad or from your smartphone.
  • Not only will Lowe’s beat Walmart’s price, but they’ll beat it by a cool 10%.
  • They limit the number of items in your purchase that you can get a price-match on to what they term “reasonable quantities”.
  • If you have any questions about the vagueness of “reasonable quantities” you should call and speak to them directly at 1-877-465-6937.
  • Exclusions: Installation labor, closeout pricing, special order, discontinued, clearance, liquidation or damaged items.

Michaels

Buried deep on the Michaels Terms and Condition page is their in-store price match policy which includes Walmart. Here’s what you need to know to make it happen.

  • While you traditional think of Joann, Hobby Lobby, and AC Moore when price matching at Michaels, Walmart does indeed have many identical products worth price-matching.
  • Simply present a Walmart ad or evidence of a lower Walmart price via a mobile device to a store associate.
  • The lower price must be available at your local Walmart location and not solely available at Walmart.com.
  • Exclusions include “Online Only” specials and private label brands. If they turn down your price match, use a Michaels coupon (in-store and online) to get comparable savings.

Office Depot & Office Max

Once you understand the Office Depot/Max price match policy, you’ll never troll the crowded aisles at Walmart again shopping for office supplies. Here are the instructions to make it happen.

  • The item being price-matched must be identical, in-stock, and brand new.
  • Bring in evidence of the lower Walmart price via a printed advertisement, printed in-store signage, receipt of item purchased, picture of in-store signage or online offer from mobile device.
  • They also give you 14 days after your Office Depot/Max purchase to get a price adjustment if you find that Walmart has undercut the price you originally paid.
  • Exclusions: Service plans, computer services, or other services which include delivery, copy and custom printing, installation, and extended warranties.

Petco

When shopping for pet food and supplies, be sure you’re getting Walmart pricing at your local Petco. Here is how their policy works.

  • While kinda vague on their website, Petco will gladly match Walmart and Walmart.com pricing on identical items.
  • As long as there is a Walmart within a “reasonable” distance, Petco will honor their lower price.

Sears

The folks at Sears will also honor the lower Walmart price. Here is the skinny:

  • The Walmart price match at Sears is only eligible on the day you make your purchase.
  • Must be an identical brand and model number.
  • Just bring in evidence of the lower Walmart price and they’ll verify it independently.
  • Exclusions: Bonus or free offers, special offers, online-only offers, bundled offers, rebates, any special financing offers, coupons, protection agreements, clearance, liquidation, or closeout prices, buy one get one offers, gift card offers, damaged, returned, open box or display merchandise.

Staples

Staples will also price match Walmart, plus throw in a cool little bonus.

  • If you find a new and identical item that they sell for less at Walmart, see an associate at the Staples customer service desk to get your price match.
  • Not only will Staples match the price, but they’ll discount the item by 10% of the difference.

Target

Target’s “Shop With Confidence” policy is definitely worth knowing if you’d rather shop at Target than Walmart. Here is what you need to know.

  • Take evidence of the lower Walmart price to the Guest Services desk at your local Target.
  • They’ll then use their iPad to verify the lower price.
  • Also, keep your Target receipts as they’ll price match Walmart at any point within 14 days of your original purchase date.

Tractor Supply Co.

Surprisingly, Walmart and Tractor Supply have many of the same tools, outdoor equipment, and ranch supplies so I was happy see that they price match Walmart.

  • Tractor Supply not only price matches Walmart but pretty much every other retailer except eBay and Amazon 3rd party sellers.
  • Item cannot be a Walmart clearance item or closeout special.
  • Must also be in-stock and identical.
  • Just show a TSC employee the cheaper Walmart price and they’ll hook ya up.

West Marine

I was happy to see that West Marine will price match Walmart, here are the details worth knowing.

  • If you have a Walmart location within 50 miles of your local West Marine location, they’ll give you the lower Walmart price.
  • Simply provide the Walmart address, item number, and base price of the item and they’ll independently verify the price.
  • You can also call them at 1-800-BOATING to discuss your price match.
  • From their website, “Price matching does not apply to online auctions, liquidation sales, refurbished or used merchandise, shipping charges, taxes, or promotions such as: mail-in offers, gift-with-purchase, financing offers, installation services, or typographical errors.”

Happy savings.

25 Hobby Lobby Savings Tips and Tricks (Never Pay Full Price)

Hobby Lobby is a haven for craft enthusiasts, offering a wide range of supplies for everything from scrapbooking and painting to home decor and seasonal decorations. However, frequent trips to this wonderland can quickly add up, so savvy shoppers need to know the best ways to save. In this article, we’ll explore a variety of tips and tricks to help you maximize your savings at Hobby Lobby.

Hobby Lobby Savings Tips and Tricks (Never Pay Full Price)

1. The Famous 40% Off Coupon is Gone…BUT

Hobby Lobby was well-known for its perpetual 40% off coupon, which they offered until 2021.

Although this specific coupon is no longer available, the store frequently releases similar high-value coupons.

Always check their website Weekly Ad or the top of your store receipt before shopping to see if any such coupons are available.

These can be applied to the highest-priced item in your cart, providing significant savings.

2. Familiarize Yourself with the Sales Cycle

Hobby Lobby’s sales cycle is predictable, which can be a MAJOR advantage if you know how to use it.

Most categories go on sale once every three to four weeks. Home decor items might be 50% off one week, and the next week, crafting supplies or fabric might be on sale.

By understanding this cycle, you can plan your purchases around when your needed items are likely to be discounted.

3. Shop Seasonal Clearance Sales

One of the best times to save at Hobby Lobby is during seasonal clearance sales.

After major holidays, leftover seasonal items are typically marked down 50% off the day after the holiday, with discounts increasing to 75% or even 90% off over the following weeks.

This is an excellent opportunity to stock up on supplies for the next year.

4. Price Matching Policy

Hobby Lobby will price match items from a competitor’s printed ad, provided the exact same item is in stock at their store.

This means if you find a lower price at another store, bring in the advertisement to claim the same price at Hobby Lobby.

Note that they do not honor competitors’ percent-off ads or coupons.

5. Take Advantage of Online Sales

Shopping online at Hobby Lobby can also lead to significant savings, especially if you live far from a store.

Online sales are often different from in-store sales, so you might find better deals or unique items not available at your local Hobby Lobby.

Also, online orders sometimes offer free shipping promotions, adding to your savings.

6. Follow Social Media and Email Newsletters

For the most dedicated deal-seekers, following Hobby Lobby on social media and subscribing to their Weekly Ad newsletter can provide early notifications about special promotions and coupons.

These platforms sometimes offer exclusive deals that are not advertised through other channels.

The best platforms to follow them are Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

7. Utilize Discount Gift Cards

Purchasing Hobby Lobby gift cards at a discount is another clever way to save.

Websites like Gift Inventory or Card Cash sell gift cards for less than face value.

Buying these discounted gift cards ahead of your shopping trips can save you an additional 5% to 10%.

8. DIY with Hobby Lobby

Hobby Lobby not only sells craft supplies but also provides countless free DIY project ideas and tutorials on their website and YouTube channel.

Utilizing these resources can inspire you to create something truly unique while also being cost-effective.

Sometimes, making something yourself with simple materials can be significantly cheaper than buying the finished item.

9. Watch for Daily Specials and Limited-Time Offers

In addition to the regular sales cycle, Hobby Lobby occasionally offers special daily discounts or limited-time promotions that aren’t widely advertised.

These can include deep discounts on specific product categories or flash sales available only for a day or two.

Checking their website or signing up for push notifications through the Hobby Lobby app can keep you informed about these timely offers.

10. Benefit from Holiday Hours and Special Sales

Hobby Lobby often extends its hours during the holiday season and may offer special shopping events and additional discounts.

These extended hours provide more opportunities to shop after normal business hours, which can be helpful during the busy holiday season.

Plan your shopping trips during these times to make the most of the additional hours and potential extra discounts.

11. Explore the Clearance Aisles

In many Hobby Lobby stores, there are dedicated aisles for clearance items where products are deeply discounted to make room for new stock.

These aisles often contain a wide variety of items, from home decor to crafting supplies, at significantly reduced prices.

Regular visits to these aisles can lead to finding some hidden gems at a fraction of their original price.

12. Consider the “Less Than Perfect” Section

Some Hobby Lobby locations feature a “Less Than Perfect” section where items with minor imperfections are sold at a reduced price.

These items may have slight defects or damages that do not affect their overall functionality.

Shopping from this section can save money, especially on items where appearance is not your primary concern, such as materials for practice or experimentation.

13. Participate in Store Events and Competitions

Hobby Lobby occasionally hosts events and competitions that can involve discounts or prizes.

These might include crafting contests, seasonal promotions, or DIY workshops where participants may receive discounts on their purchases during the event.

These are not only fun ways to engage with the crafting community but also great opportunities to save.

14. Educator and Non-Profit Discounts

If you are an educator or purchasing for a non-profit organization, inquire about any available discounts.

Hobby Lobby offers a discount for teachers and non-profit organizations, which can be used for buying supplies in bulk for classrooms or various projects.

This requires providing appropriate identification or documentation, so be prepared with the necessary paperwork.

15. Plan Projects Around What’s on Sale

For regular crafters, planning projects based on what materials are currently on sale can lead to significant savings.

If you have a flexible timeline for your projects, wait to purchase materials until they fall into the sales cycle.

This proactive approach ensures you’re buying materials at their lowest prices.

16. Check Out Competitor Coupons

While Hobby Lobby no longer accepts competitor coupons, being aware of competitors’ sales can still be beneficial.

You can use this information to anticipate potential price matches or to decide when it might be better to shop at a competitor based on their promotions, especially for items that rarely go on sale at Hobby Lobby.

17. Make the Most of Returns and Exchanges

Understanding Hobby Lobby’s return policy can save you money if you ever need to return an item.

Keep your receipts and be aware of the return window to ensure you can return products that are not suitable.

This helps manage your budget more effectively by preventing money from being tied up in unused items.

18. Leverage After-Christmas Sales for Crafting Supplies

Post-Christmas sales are not just for holiday items.

Hobby Lobby often includes a range of crafting supplies in their after-Christmas clearance sales.

This is an excellent time to stock up on ribbons, fabrics, and decorative items that can be repurposed for projects throughout the year.

These items can often be found at discounts of 70% or more.

19. Revisit the Basics Section

For basic crafting supplies like paper, glues, and tools that you use frequently, keep an eye on the basics section.

Hobby Lobby periodically offers discounts on these essential items, and stocking up during these times can save you money in the long run.

These sales are ideal for buying in bulk, ensuring you never run out of your most used supplies.

20. Check End Caps for Deals

End caps—the displays at the end of aisles—often feature discounted items and special buys.

These are placed prominently to catch shoppers’ attention and can sometimes offer the best deals in the store.

Products on end caps might be overstock items, last season’s products, or new items promoted at an introductory price.

21. Use the Hobby Lobby App

The Hobby Lobby app is a convenient tool for accessing coupons, checking the weekly ad, and tracking the sales cycle.

Additionally, the app can simplify the shopping experience with features like barcode scanning to check prices and availability, making it easier to plan your shopping trips and ensure you are getting the best deals.

22. Shop Off-Season

Purchasing seasonal items off-season can result in significant savings.

For instance, buying summer crafting materials in the fall or winter holiday items in January.

Hobby Lobby reduces the prices on these seasonal goods to clear out inventory, which means you can get them at a fraction of the cost if you’re willing to store them until the next year.

23. Join Crafting Classes

Hobby Lobby hosts classes and workshops that sometimes include discounts on supplies purchased for the class.

These sessions can offer not only new skills and a fun experience but also savings on materials used during the class.

Keep an eye on the store’s events calendar to join a class that interests you.

24. Optimize Your Fabric Purchases

When buying fabric, always check for remnants. Ask an employee if you can’t find them.

These are pieces of fabric left over after cutting and are usually sold at a lower price.

If you need smaller amounts of fabric for projects like quilting or crafts, remnants can provide high-quality material at a reduced cost.

25. Be Strategic with Custom Framing

Custom framing can be expensive, but Hobby Lobby frequently offers sales of 50% off custom framing or free upgrades like UV glass or matting.

If you need items framed, wait for these promotions to make the most of your investment.

By using these tips—ranging from leveraging coupons and understanding the sales cycle to shopping clearance sales and using a rewards card—you can significantly cut costs. Always stay alert for new promotions, be strategic about your shopping times, and enjoy the process of creating and decorating with all the supplies you can get at a fraction of the cost.

Nordstrom Price Match Policy: Everything You Need to Know (and Much More)

Updated January 13, 2024 by Kyle James

I’m a huge fan of taking advantage of price match policies when retailers allows it. And guess what? Nordstrom absolutely allows it and it’s a big part of their tradition of great customer service. So I figured it was time to take a deep dive into the Nordstrom price match policy and figure out exactly how it works. I hope this helps you get some money back.

Nordstrom Price Match Policy: Everything You Need to Know

Does Nordstrom Offer a Price Match?

Yes, but it’s a bit muddy, especially when trying to figure out which stores they’ll actually price match.

This is why I wanted to write this article and set the record straight.

What Stores Does Nordstrom Price Match?

Surprisingly, I couldn’t find an answer to this question ANYWHERE so I hit up Nordstrom live chat and asked.

Turns out Nordstrom ONLY price matches the following 10 retailers:

1- Amazon (must be sold & shipped by Amazon)

2- Bloomingdale’s

3- East Dane

4- Macy’s

5- Mr. Porter

6- Neiman Marcus

7- Net-A-Porter

8- ShopBop

9- Saks Fifth Avenue

10- Zappos

How Many Days Do You Have to Get a Price Adjustment?

14 days.

If you find a lower price for up to 14 days after your purchase you can request a price match.

This can be done either in-store or via their web portal HERE.

See Also: Nordstrom Return Policy: Answers to Your 8 Biggest Questions

Do I Need My Receipt to Make it Happen?

For in-store purchases you need to request the price match at time of purchase or by bringing in your receipt at a later date.

So…yes, you NEED your receipt as proof of purchase.

What Are the Specifics of their Policy?

In order to get a Nordstrom price match you need to meet the following 4 criteria.

  1. Item must be identical.
  2. Must be in-stock at select competitor.
  3. Bring in the current ad of the competitor, or a clickable link to the product on your smartphone as evidence of the lower price.
  4. Only 1 price match per item.

See Also: 14 Stores That’ll Price Match Amazon’s Price Everyday

Are There Any Exceptions to Their Policy?

Yes, quite a few actually…

– Limited-Time Sale – If something goes on sale, even for a short period of time, you cannot get the lower price.

– Final or Closeout Items – Instead, try and return the item at full price then rebuy it at the lower price.

– Order-level discounts – Not sure what this means, does anyone know? Leave a comment below and fill me in.

– Designer Brands purchased at a discount – If you already bought it “on sale” you can’t get a price match on top of that.

– Gift card promotions – If Nordstrom is having a deal on gift cards and selling them for less than face value you can’t get a price match if you bought a gift card before the deal started.

– Shipping offers – This one is kind of obvious.

– Items from the outlet – This includes stuff bought from Nordstrom Rack.

– Flash sales – Can’t get a price match if you originally bought the item during a Flash Sale.

– Auction & Club Retailers – They won’t price match places like Costco, Sam’s Club or eBay.com.

– Regional and non-U.S.-based retailers.

Can I Get a Price Adjustment on Stuff That Goes on Sale?

No.

Nordstrom is famous for offering anniversary sales, limited-time savings, and “extra savings” events.

Unfortunately you CAN’T get a price-match on stuff bought before “the specific discount time period”.

Can I Get an Online Price Match?

Yes.

Unlike many online retailers, Nordstrom allows you to get an online price match when you shop their website.

As mentioned earlier, they have a webpage set up to start the process.

You just enter your order number and zip code and they’ll look up your purchase and help you get the price match.

Anything Else I Need to Know?

Yes!

Here are a couple more juicy tidbits that might be useful.

  1. According to some Nordstrom shoppers, they’ll price match J.Crew as well.
  2. I’ve also heard that you can use Nordstrom Live Chat to get a price match which in many cases will save you a trip to the store.

Let me know if you have more insider tips that I can share.

Ask the Reader: What’s been your experience with the price match policy at Nordstrom? Let me know in the comments, thanks!
