(Updated 7/16/19) I can’t believe it has taken me so long to put this teacher discounts article together. Why? Well, my wife is an amazing teacher and my dad was an awesome junior high science teacher for over 35 years. They deserve all of the discounts they get and many teachers aren’t aware of all the incredible savings retailers and service companies offer.

Well…until now that is! I plan on keeping this resource updated and will update it as I get new information. My goal is to make this article the “go-to” resource for teacher discounts on clothing, software, computers, school supplies, and even travel.

I’m not a teacher but I work at a school. I get all the perks of the union we’re a part of (I do pay dues) plus I get the ID card giving me all the discounts. These teacher discounts are awesome!

The B&N Educator discount is only for K-12. It is not for preschool or college teachers. Also, it is not applicable on CDs or DVDs/Blu-Rays, except during Educator Appreciation Week.

I have an educator discount at Barnes & Noble but discovered it’s still cheaper to order a class set of books from Amazon.com, even without a teacher discount.

Don’t forget about educator discounts on books and On a prime membership at Amazon.

There is no discount for educators on a prime membership. It’s for college students. You have to have a .edu email address and tell them what school you go to and your major. Many teachers at private/theraputic schools don’t have .edu addresses.

The Container Store has generously discontinued their teacher discount as of last year. Now, you have to subscribe via email. You have to hope that they send you a coupon for an individual item before you go shopping, and that it does not expire before you go, because they do not offer a discount otherwise to teachers. If you ask about the teacher discount in store or via their customer service number, they are rude, obnoxious and treat you like a beggar instead of a hardworking teacher who spends hundreds of personal $ on their classroom wax year and deserves a discount.

Do any of these discounts apply to retired teachers?
