So you’re on your way to Taco Bell for a late night feast and you realize you forgot your wallet at home. In fact, the only thing you’ve brought with you is your precious iPhone. As you stare at your phone it hits you, and you ask yourself, does Taco Bell take Apple Pay? Thankfully, Taco Bell makes paying for your tacos and burritos as convenient as possible. In this article, I will walk you through everything you need to know about using Apple Pay at Taco Bell. Let’s get into it.

Does Taco Bell Take Apple Pay? Time to Think Outside the Bun

So…Does Taco Bell Take Apple Pay?

Yes.

Almost every Taco Bell location will accept Apple Pay as a form of payment.

This all depends on whether or not they have the contactless reader installed at their location.

At this time, nearly EVERY Taco Bell has a special device reader installed at the register of their location.

However, there might be a select few locations that have yet to catch up with the times.

How Does It Work Exactly?

The first step is to make sure you have Apple Pay setup on your phone.

To do this, you will need to upload your credit or debit card to your iPhone.

For more information on this, head over to Apple’s support page.

Essentially, you will head over to your wallet app and click on the “Add” button.

From there, you will add your form of payment. Then you’re good to go.

After you have Apple Pay set up on your phone, it’s incredibly convenient to use it at Taco Bell.

When you’re ready to pay, all you have to do is double-click the side button of your iPhone and it will pull up your Apple Wallet.

Then you can scan your phone at the contactless card reader device, and you walk out with your chow.

What are the Benefits of Using Apple Pay at Taco Bell?

There are tons of benefits to using Apple Pay to buy your next Burrito Supreme.

One of the most appealing parts of using Apple Pay is that it is fast and convenient.

Long gone are the days of counting out your cash or fumbling around with your card at the register. Apple Pay makes your checkout experience painless.

Another major benefit of using Apple Pay is that your privacy and security are built into the program.

Oftentimes, card readers can be tampered with by people, allowing them to access your card details and use them illegally.

Apple Pay eliminates this risk by storing your card information in a secure location that can only be accessed by you.

Last, you don’t have to touch anything which based on some of the Taco Bell locations I’ve dined at, this is a really good thing.

Can I Use Apple Pay in the Drive-Thru?

Yes.

You can use Apple Pay in the Taco Bell drive-thru.

It’s actually quite convenient to use! All you have to do is hold out your phone out the window for the Taco Bell employee to scan your device.

This only takes a matter of seconds and can avoid any trouble that comes along with pesky card readers or counting out your cash.

It’s no wonder why using Apple Pay in the Taco Bell drive-thru is the go-to method of payment for so many Taco Bell aficionados.

Can I Use Apple Pay from Their App or Website?

Yes and No.

You absolutely CAN use Apple Pay on the Taco Bell app , but NOT on their website.

So the takeaway is to ALWAYS use the app to order, especially since it’s much more intuitive than their website.

By using the app, you can also order ahead and select the exact pickup time of your choice.

This makes your online checkout experience as easy as the click of a button.

Also, when you use Apple Pay to checkout via their app, you won’t have to worry about sorting through your credit cards or typing in the wrong number.

That’s because all of the information you need is already safely inside your Apple Wallet.

Are There Any Fees for Using Apple Pay?

No.

Fortunately, there are not any fees associated with using Apple Pay.

In fact, there aren’t any fees for using Apple Pay at ANY location.

You get all the benefits and convenience of using Apple Pay from your phone without ever having to pay an extra penny.

Brilliant Ways to Save Money at Subway (and Get More Chow!)

Updated March 21, 2024 by Kyle James

When I was in college I once ate TWO footlongs in one sitting.  No joke. Once in college, I also clogged the dorm toilet. I was able to score two footlongs because our campus newspaper had coupons for buy one footlong, get one FREE. Best coupon ever and the main reason I made it through my early twenties fully nourished.

Unfortunately, those killer Subway coupons are few and far between these days, so we have to resort to some different tactics to maximize our savings. Here are a few of my favorite ways to save money at Subway.

Brilliant Ways to Save Money at Subway

1. Split a Footlong and Customize It

One of my favorite ways to save money at Subway, especially when dining with kiddos, is to order a footlong and have the “Sandwich Artist” customize each 6 inch portion to what my kids like.

Some employees may not like doing this, but if you’re polite and not to demanding, almost all will happily oblige.

You may not be able to get a different kind of meat on each half, but you can definitely ask for different cheeses, produce, and condiments.

This will easily save you a few bucks as ordering two separate 6 inch sandwiches costs 20% more than ordering a single footlong.

2. Beware of Add-Ons

If you can AVOID buying add-ons like chips, soda, or cookies you’ll be winning the game.

Instead, ask for a free water cup and split a bag of chips if your munchies are impossible to resist.

If you’re with the kids, and decide to buy cookies, be sure to buy three as you’ll get a quantity discount that way.

3. Toasted Subs Can Cost You More

If you live in California, Subway is going to charge you sales tax if you get your sub toasted.

A toasted sub is considered a hot food and the state requires Subway to collect sales tax.

While this is not really a tip, I figured it was just good information to know.

4. Ask for the “Softest” Bread

If you’re more interested in NOT getting stale bread, rather than a specific bread type, simply ask the employee “which bread is the softest today?”

Soft bread equals fresh bread. They’ve been cutting bread for hours and can easily tell which is the softest.

I do this all the time and always get very fresh bread, often right out of the oven if I’m getting my meal before noon.

5. Order the Subway “Old Cut”

As recently as 10 years ago, Subway sandwich artists cut there bread with a V shape taken out of the top of the bread.

Nowadays, they call this “V-cut” the “Old Cut” and I have it on good authority that many employees are still trained to make this cut.

While kind of funny looking, it helped the meat, cheese, and produce stay on the bread better and not tumble off.

OK, so now that you’ve had the history lesson, try ordering an “Old Cut” and you’ll typically get more bang for your buck.

Meat and cheese will be the same, but toppings can get pretty crazy as the old cut can hold a lot more without stuff falling off. Simply ask for extra toppings and pile that sucker high.

6. Follow Subway on Social Media

I’ve been a little disappointed recently with the deals and coupons you can find from Subway.

But if you follow them on social media, you’ll be kept in the know when they actually do release exclusive coupons and promotions.

  • Subway on Facebook – They often post special deals and coupons on their Facebook page that you can use on your next visit.
  • Subway on X – A few special promotions are sprinkled in their Twitter feed. Mainly a fun way to connect with loyal Subway customers.

7. Join Subway Rewards Program

If you dine regularly, consider getting a free Subway Rewards Card and start earning points.

I’m not a big pusher of reward programs in general, as they often entice you to spend more money, but the Subway program is pretty tight.

Just by signing up, you get 50 free points and earn 1 point for every dollar spent. 75 points gets you a free footlong, 50 points for a free 6 inch, 10 points nabs you a free cookie, and 20 points get you a free drink.

Oh, and 80 points grants you access to the “clean” bathroom…oh how I wish.

Yet, customer demand may be the primary reason why Whataburger chooses to serve breakfast at night.

Another reason may be Whataburger’s breakfast items tend to be lighter and less greasy relative to the items they serve at lunch.

And, if you are eating something late at night/early in the morning you likely don’t want to eat a large meal that is heavier/ more greasy.

But let’s be honest and recall those late-night college drinking days…who wasn’t a HUGE FAN of hitting the local diner for breakfast after hitting the local bars?

Whataburger is clearly tapping into the late-night college crowd.
