Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here’s What To Do About It)

Have you noticed that Amazon doesn’t deliver on their 2-day Prime Shipping anymore? It’s actually not even close for my address and I’ve had to return stuff to Amazon as I don’t need it by the time the package shows up. Anything that I want to buy today (a Monday) won’t be delivered until Sunday at the earliest. I tested this on a bunch of different shopping categories and made sure it was all products sold and shipped directly by Amazon, and none could be delivered before Sunday, 6 days from NOW. But alas, not all hope is lost, here’s what you should do to hold Amazon’s feet to the fire. It’ll only take a few minutes and put an extra $10 or $20 in your pocket.

Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here's What To Do About It)

Call Them Up and Ask For a 1-Month Refund

When I have a problem with Amazon I usually start a live chat session as it’s easier to say exactly what I want to say.

BUT…for the first time ever, I recommend actually calling them at 1-(888) 280-4331 and say, “Why don’t I get 2-day Prime shipping anymore?”

I tried doing this via Live Chat and it just went in circles due to what I’m guessing was a language barrier.

At this point, give them your zip code and ask them to run it through their system to find out for sure whether your address qualifies for 2-day shipping.

Most addresses do indeed qualify for 2-day Prime shipping.

If your address does qualify, then you probably already know the EXACT reason why you’re not getting your packages within 2 days.

It’s because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain and they should pay for it.

This is when you politely ask for a 1-month refund on your Prime membership (approximately $10) because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain.

I did this recently via a phone call to their customer service department and it took me all of about 5 minutes to score the $10 refund.

There was ZERO hesitation from the rep I talked with and I think they are trained to hand out this refund for those who politely ask for it.

Note: My family orders from Amazon at least 1-2 times per week and I’m not sure if that played a role in getting the 1-month refund, but in either case, it’s definitely worth a shot.

ASK FOR EVEN MORE

From the comments section, several Amazon Prime members were actually given a $20 “inconvenience credit”. Since we we know that a $20 credit is on the table, you might as well ask for it.

Hold Amazon’s Feet to the Fire

I realize Amazon’s been hit by unprecedented demand in recent months, but let’s not forget they are one of the richest companies in the world.

Now that the economy and stores have opened back up in most of the country, the demand for online shopping has been greatly reduced.

Yet Amazon still can’t figure it out and solve their order backlog issues.

What ticks me off the most is Amazon wants to blame it on the pandemic and increased demand in online shopping.

I’d have no problem buying that argument back in March, April or May of 2020…BUT NOT NOW.

It’s my opinion that Amazon was losing money on the 2-day shipping guarantee and is using the current situation as a handy way to get rid of the fast shipping guarantee altogether.

I’d be SHOCKED if 2-Day Prime shipping ever came back at this point.

So the bottom line is get your $10 refund NOW before they aren’t so generous.

The customer service rep also told me that MANY people are calling to cancel Prime, she said she had already cancelled over 50 memberships in the past couple days.

Here’s what a chat rep told me when I asked him if Prime members were complaining about the issue:

Amazon Chat

Prime 2-Day Shipping Has Turned Into 5-Day Delivery

The reason that 2-day Prime shipping has turned into 5, 6, or even 7-day shipping has nothing to do with UPS or the USPS.

It falls 100% on Amazon as they now say that the “2-day shipping guarantee” is from when they actually process your order and get it in the mail.

So if it takes them a couple days to box it up and ship it out, then you’ll get it delivered to your home in about 5 days on average.

If you’re like me, the main reason you joined Prime and paid $139/year was for the 2-day shipping, so this is KIND OF A BIG DEAL.

BONUS Tip: Work-Around Hack Worth Trying…

Thanks to reader Joseph, who commented recently letting us know that his Amazon Business account has been delivering in 2-days since last September.

The interesting part is that his “regular Prime account” is stuck at 4-7 days for delivery.

Since an Amazon business account is FREE to join, and also gives you quantity discounts, setting up an account could be worth a shot.

Also, in case you were wondering, he said his business is not COVID related in the slightest.

Just ordered something today and expected delivery is 14 days. Prime box was checked too.

Charsquatch

Every order I put in is 20 days minimum these days. I get that I live in Wisconsin and we have blizzards sometimes, but it’s even in the summer

Rick M

Damn, what did you say to them? I only got a month.

D davis

Just called and threatened to cancel my prime membership and she just said okay. SMH

I’m sick of Amazon’s false advertising on this, to be honest. I knew that when Bezos jumped ship and handed the reins to Andy Jassy, that signaled the beginning of the end for Amazon. Who the hell is going to pay for Amazon’s Prime Service when they don’t deliver on it? I know they can do it, they did it for years…but they quit. And it’s not a “hit and miss” thing…they seem to have huge delays on everything they ship out. I don’t remember the last time I received ANYTHING from them in 2 days, and we purchase from Amazon several times every week. The door is open for a good competitor to kick Amazon to the curb. I wouldn’t be buying any Amazon stock if I were you…that ship looks to be taking on water, and I have zero confidence in their current CEO

Robin

Exactly. I order two or three things a week and NOTHING comes earlier than 5 days. NOTHING. Not for months and months now.
I can get stuff faster on Walmart.com

Lisa

This has been a problem for me for months now, I’m so frustrated. I pay for a membership I should be able to expect the 2 day shipping. It still says 2 day shipping is included with your Prime membership on Amazon. The shipping time is usually 10+ days, that’s BS! I chatted with someone from Amazon, she offered my a $5 credit. Not happy.

Prime shipping is a joke anymore. Countless Items I order ship out of Chicago 3 hours always from me and still take a week more to arrive. I was telling my husband yesterday that I won’t be renewing our prime membership in March. Alot of times anymore it takes longer to get things to my home in Illinois than when we lived in Alaska and ordered from Amazon.

Lea

I have prime. My deliveries are taking 7-14 days. I tried to cancel all of them and unfortunately the most expensive items for some reason I am not able to cancel, they haven’t been shipped yet, but my cancellation is not being accepted. Worst part is that I paid those items with a prepaid debit card, and for some reason Amazon is doing a new authorization everyday for each transaction, which is debiting the amount I have available to spend, I am down 600.00 dlrs, and the funds won’t release back to me until they ship the item. So they are double charging transactions and I can’t do anything about it because they are pending. I have 6 charges for the same transaction (4 different transactions). It is frustrating, and I am thinking of cancelling PRIME. It is not worth it anymore.

Aisha

Thanks for the tip. I just received $20 back. The rep said she expected 2-3 days to return after the holiday season (whenever that is).

Jax

What did you say to get the $20? I’m currently on hold for a specialist to get a credit

Miss Linda C George

I asked today and they quoted due to the holidays
I will suck it up and join walmart. Same thing.

Brian

Finally I get an answer..thank you. I just got another 30 day free Prime trial and was counting on the 2 day shipping like most people. I couldn’t find a single item that was 2 day, so I called customer service to complain. Besides the usual language barrier, they said “well, some items are not prime eligible”, I told them I can’t find a single item in any category that is 2 day shipping, then she said she was passing my message on to higher management and I should get an email reply soon, nothing. Then as of today there’s a disclaimer at the top of the amazon page that says “delivery times include delays due to weather”. (what weather?!) They say they were losing money on the 2 day guarantee? well I wonder how much more $$ they will lose now because so many people are going to stop using amazon and cancel their memberships.I don’t think they thought this through.

Chrissy

Nearly the entire Midwest has been impacted by weather that impacts travel routes for the last two weeks. Many of us snowed in or have 1/8” ice on every surface. So, yes, “delays due to weather” depending on if the delivery must pass through the impacted areas to get to you.

MaryAnn

Well I was on the fence about cancelling for a few months now. This just made up my mind. A lot of people will be canceling. They just shot themselves in the foot.

DLM

This is so annoying. I tried to talk to them and they gave me a $5 credit. Comical. This membership is like $130 bucks and you’re going to give me $5 back? Wtf lol

I really don’t want to cancel Amazon because of my many reasons to order online vs go into a store. Amazon has always been so convenient and a life saver (literally for me). But the convenience is gone, so I am considering canceling this expensive membership. I may as well go order directly from a store’s website if I’m going to have to wait a week or longer for delivery. Grr!

ROBIN

The last order I placed was Dec. 26, and I should supposedly receive all my items to complete my order on Jan. 5. Ridiculous for 2 day prime. I think the last time I recall consistently getting my products in 2 days was in June 2022. Definitely feed up.

R Prasna

I called Amazon and complained about this issue and they gave me full refund of my Prime membership ($120)

Robin

OMG I am so glad to see someone else has noticed the shocking increase in delivery time of Amazon and it’s been at least the past year or more.
NOTHING is two day anymore. Nothing.
I called a couple months ago and got a bunch of blah blah blah explanations of how they ship, I told them I DO NOT CARE, all I know is it used to be two days and now it’s not.
I just now called again, got it escalated up the chain by one, and got a 75 dollar partial refund on my account.

If EVERYONE did this I bet Amazon would figure out something. This is ridiculous. I just wanted CR2032 batteries…a million companies make these, it’s not like some sherpa in a yurt on a mountain is making them by hand someplace. Those should arrive in two days. Good grief.
